Craving for
something delicious but simple? Here were present you aglio e olio!
The name sounds
like an Italian song title, isn’t it? I guess you pronounce it with some tone.
I know right!!!
Aglio e olio is a traditional Italian pasta dish coming from Naples. It is according to
the family of spaghetti (yes, foods have family tho xoxo). The difference from
the usual spaghetti is it has no sauce, yes it looks pale yet yummy! Let’s just
start to see the recipe!
The Ingredients:
- 1 pound uncooked spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley
- 1 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
How to make:
- Boil the water with some salt, then cook the spaghetti into the boiling water. stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain and transfer to a pasta bowl.
- Prepare a pan and combine the garlic and olive oil in it. Set the stove to medium heat to slowly toast garlic, about 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low when olive oil begins to bubble. Cook and stir until garlic is golden brown, about another 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Stir red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt into the pasta. Pour in olive oil and garlic, and sprinkle on Italian parsley and half of the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese; stir until combined. Here you can smell the aroma, there will be some noise in your tummy :p
- In rhythm with the sound in your tummy, prepare a plate. Pour the spaghetti in it.
- This is it, your aglio e olio is ready to slurp!
Now you can
check your fridge. We wish all ingredients are available so you ain’t drooling
